Pune: The revised Apprenticeship Law Reforms must be effectively implemented by industries to ensure the creation of a skilled workforce, said Vasu Sharma, General Manager, Apprenticeship, NSDC, Government of India.
Speaking at a guidance session on the recent reforms in the Apprenticeship scheme, organized by Yashaswi Institute in Pune, Sharma highlighted the critical role of apprenticeships in addressing industry requirements for trained manpower.
During his address, Sharma explained the background of the Apprenticeship Act, shared details about the Apprenticeship scheme, and elaborated on the key reforms introduced.

He noted that Maharashtra is leading in the effective execution of apprenticeship initiatives, and organizations like Yashaswi are helping drive impactful implementation.
Apprenticeship Law Reforms to Boost Skill Development
According to Sharma, under the Apprenticeship Law Reforms, the stipend for apprentices has been increased, and along with on-the-job training, online training systems have also been integrated.
He emphasized that the reforms align with the new National Education Policy (NEP), which will accelerate the adoption of apprenticeship programs across the country.
Special Incentives for Northeast India’s Youth
Sharma further mentioned that to bring the youth of Northeast India into the mainstream of development, the scheme now provides an additional direct benefit transfer (DBT) of ₹1,500 to participants.
He stressed that the Apprenticeship scheme significantly contributes to building an Atmanirbhar and developed India. Industries should adopt these reforms proactively and ensure more youth gain employability through apprenticeship opportunities, he added.

Apprenticeship Law Reforms: Industry Participation and Q&A Session
The program concluded with a Q&A session where Sharma responded to queries from human resource managers and industry officials. The event was presided over by Yashaswi Institute’s Chairman, Vishwesh Kulkarni.
Among the dignitaries present were Dheepan Ramalingam, Managing Director, Ringfeder Power Transmission India Pvt. Ltd., and Arif Salauru, CEO of Lacentenele Group, Mauritius.
The session also saw participation from over 500 HR officials from leading industrial companies across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Bhosari, Chakan, and Hinjewadi.
The program was anchored by Amruta Tendulkar and concluded with a collective rendition of the national anthem.
